National Library Week is Almost Here!

Many of you are probably relieved Spring is here, even if you’ve already gotten wet in the rain. We are trying to stay dry at the library, but we’re mostly focused on the fact that National Library Week is almost here! From April 7-13th, libraries will be celebrated all around the country. This year, celebrations are planned around the theme of “Ready, Set, Library!” The theme was chosen by the American Library Association to illustrate “the idea that in our always-online world, libraries give us a green light to something truly special: a place to connect with others, learn new skills, and focus on what matters most.”

Bellefonte citizens likely already know that the Bellefonte Library is a great place to connect with people over common interests like chess and books. But, if you haven’t been to the library or attended a library program in a while, National Library Week is the perfect time to visit! The whole family can start off the week with the library on Monday, April 8th as we watch a NASA live stream of the solar eclipse together in the community room. Throughout the week, a special take and make race car craft will also be available for kids. Like usual, the weekly programs Tail Waggin’ Tutors, storytime, and LEGO hour will be available for children. A virtual book discussion for adults, Book Lover’s Coffee Hour, will close out the week on Saturday, April 13th at 10 AM. If none of these events strike your fancy, just remember that the library’s collection is always there for you to explore and borrow virtually and in-person. Come visit the Bellefonte Library or our website today and give yourself the green light to learn or experience what you have been curious about lately.
