Designing your nest
Stuck between “The Holidays” and “Spring”.
Well, here we are…stuck between “The Holidays” and “Spring”. The Ground Hog and Cupid have come and gone. The days are getting longer, but oooooh, so slowly. We are getting increasingly tired of dreary, cold weather. So, what’s my strategy for getting un-stuck?
I find it helpful to pick a project I’ve been mulling over and decide to just jump right in and knock it off my list. Not only does it get me moving, I feel like I’ve actually been productive and made a difference in my home environment.
Some of my recommended ideas:
Organize a closet, the junk drawer or the kids toys. Making some sense out of chaos helps to calm the soul and it isn’t a daunting endeavor. Spending an hour or two really pays off and gives your mood a boost too.
Shop for home office organization accessories. It always amazes me how some minor changes and better utilization of space can make a big difference in productivity. For instance, before you delve into tax season, you can put all the receipts and documents in a specific place so they are easy to find when you are ready for them. It might even encourage you to start your taxes early for an early return.
Replace window treatments. There are so many choices in styles, colors and patterns. Take some time and research the features and benefits of each of the available choices. It is worth the effort, because nothing cheers up a room better than new window coverings and the modern functions also simplify your life.
If you have a spring renovation planned, buckle down and start creating a plan now. Renovations can be extensive and do require a solid plan. Otherwise, you risk duplicating efforts, making costly mistakes and extending the amount of time your home will be disrupted. Bring your trade professionals in early. We are called experts for a reason. We can steer you in the right direction, save you time, money and your sanity.
Whatever project you’ve been thinking about…this is a great time of year to use your energy planning. Spending a little time planning (and/or doing) will pay off big time once Spring actually gets here and you’d rather be spending your time outdoors.
Your decor should welcome you home with a big, warm, welcoming visual hug as soon as you walk in.
