Tillandsia, commonly known as air plants. These little plants defy all logic. Air plants are epiphytes, meaning they grow on other plants in nature, usually on tree branches. They are derived from Bromeliads and live off of sunlight and weekly watering. Fun fact about air plants - they bloom!
You may notice your air plant turn a bright red or pink color. That is an indication that your air plant is getting ready to bloom. This is the beginning stage of reproduction. Eventually you will see a bloom appear in the center of the plant. The blooms range in size and color depending on the species. That bloom can last up to 2 weeks. A few weeks later, you should notice a baby near the roots of your air plant. The baby is commonly called a pup. When the pup gets big enough, you can remove it and have a new air plant.
